Free Practise:
The rounds
7 and 8 of this year´s Formula BMW Europe Championship had taken
place as a support event to the German Formula One Grand Prix at
Hockenheim. In the free practise session all Kaufmann Drivers were
showing a top performance right from the beginning and dominated the
whole session. In the end it was Esteban Gutiérrez who set the
fastest lap in front of teammate Marco Wittmann and Kazeem Manzur
beeing on a strong P4.
Qualifying:
In the
Qualifying once again Esteban Gutiérrez was the dominating driver.
With two very fast laps he took Pole Position for both races. Marco
Wittmann was in traffic at the end of the session struggleing a bit
to put a faster lap, he still qualified two times on P4. The same
happend to Kazeem Manzur. Beeing on P5 for the first race he was
stucked behind another driver which costs him his second fastest
lap. In the end he was only on P14 for the second race.
Race 1:
At the start to the race on Saturday Afternoon Esteban Gutiérrez was
able to defend his Pole Position and was leading the field. Marco
Wittmann overtook Juncadella in the opening lap and was on P3.
Kazeem Manzur however lost some places at the start dropping back to
P11. At the end of the first lap, due to an accident the Safety Car
came out. At the Re-Start Gutiérrez defended his leading position
and from that point on he showed an incredible race pace. Lapping
half a second quicker than the rest of the field, the young Mexican
won the race with an advance of over 6 seconds. Marco Wittmann, who
was very fast as well, was constantly putting pressure on Adrien
Tambay but didnt´found a way pass and finished third in the end.
Kazeem Manzur, after a poor starting phase found his way back into
the race and finished on P9, scoring his best result for this season
so far.
Race 2:
On Sunday
Morning Esteban Gutiérrez again kept his leading position and was
leading the field in a commanding way. Like the day before the young
Mexican dominated throughout the whole race with one fastest races
lap after the other. In the end he once again won the race with an
advance of over 6 seconds. With that win Esteban Gutiérrez has
actually 6 consecutive wins in this year´s Formula BMW Europe
Season. Marco Wittmann kept his fourth position at the start and was
putting pressure on the drivers in front of him. In the second half
of the race he overtook Juncadella in the Mercedes corner and took
third place. He defended his position untill the end and scored
another podium finish. Kazeem Manzur had a good start moving up to
ninth position. In antoher fight for positions he had to dodge a
driver in front of him and bend his front wing. Unfortunately in the
middle of the race he had to retire because of a technical failure
on his clutch. |
