Free Practise:
In the
free practise session on the hisotrical track of Monza Robin Frijns
and Kazeem Manzur had been on the top of the time sheets for a long
time. Finally Frijns was second fastest in Free Practise and Manzur
was 5 th fastest. Facu Regalia was struggleing a bit and set the 15
th fastest practise time.
Qualifying:
In Qualifying all
Kaufmann Drivers had been unlucky. Without the right toe on the long
straights of Monza all 3 of them missed to get the fast laptimes.
Finally Frijns qualified on P 10 and P 8. Manzur was 16. and 17.
Regalia 17. and 15.
Race 1:
In the first race the track conditions had been difficult because of
a thunder storm two hours before. The track still had some wet
patches in all parts of the track. Frijns had a good strat and moved
up some positions in the opening lap. Facu Regalia also improved
himself some places in the opening lap. Kazeem Manzur was very
unlucky. To avoid an accident in the first chicane he dropped back
to the last place. Finally Manzur drove a strong race and moved up
to P 15 in the end. Facu Regalia was already up to P 7 when another
driver touched him and he went off the track. Regalia again dropped
back to P 11. The best race of the year drove Robin Frijns. With
fastest race laps the young dutch moved up the rankings lap by lap.
Short before the end he was on P 3 catching the leaders. Finally
Frijns finished on a superb 3 rd and scored another podium finish
for this year.
Race
2:
The final race of
the year was very unlucky for all 3 Kaufmann Drivers. Facu Regalia
retired at the Start because of a broken gear cable. Kazeem Manzur,
again, like the day before had to avoid a crash in the first chicane
and dropped back to the very last place of the field. Robin Frijns
had a good start and moved up some positions. But then the young
dutch spun in the first chicane and had to let pass the whole field.
Even behind Teammate Manzur he rejoined the race. But then both
Kaufmann Drivers showed an impressive performance. From P 24
respective P 25 both Kaufmann Drivers moved up many positions each
lap. With fastest race lap times finally Manzur finished 10 and
Teammate Frijns finished on P 12.
Overall
the Team of Josef Kaufmann Racing was again very successful in the
Formula BMW Europe 2009 Season. Robin Frijns was able to score a
race win and further 5 podium finishes and secured the 3 rd Place in
the Overall Championship as well as winning the Title of the "Rookie
of the Year 2009". Additional the Team of Josef Kaufmann scored 2 nd
Place in the Formula BMW Europe Team Championship 2009.
