Double Victory for Kaufmann Racing in Budapest - Frijns takes victory infront of Teammate Tunjo - Jaminet again without scoring points

     

Free Practice: In the first free practice, which was also spilt into two groups because of the high number of participating cars, it was Oscar Tunjo and Mathieu Jaminet in Group 1. Oscar Tunjo first had to get used to the track of Budapest where he had never been before. He did that quite well and was P 6 in his group. Mathieu Jaminet was bit quicker than him and was P 5. Robin Frijns started in Group 2. Frijns showed an excellent performance and was overall quickest at the end - P 1.

In the second free practice it was Oscar Tunjo who was the fastest in Group 1. Teammate Jaminet was on P 3 in his group. Robin Frijns, this time a bit unlucky due to a red flag situation was P 5 in his group.

Qualifying 1: Again, as Qualifying was split into two groups it was Oscar Tunjo and Mathieu Jaminet in Group A. Tunjo was really fast throughout the whole session and finally was P 2 in his group. Mathieu Jaminet finished Qulafying on P 8 in the Group.

Robin Frijns was in Group B. From the beginning on Frijns dominated the Group B and in the end had set the fastest Lap Time of the Group - P 1. Overall for the starting gridof Race 1 it was Frijns - P 2, Tunjo P - 3, Jaminet P 15.

Race 1: Robin Frijns had a very good start and took over the lead in the first corner. Oscar Tunjo kept his position into the first corner. Mathieu Jaminet also kept his position. During ht erace the young frenchman had some overtaking action but still only finished the race on P 15.

Oscar Tunjo and Robin Frijns, both drove perfect races. Oscar Tunjo was the whole race on P 3 untill the final lap where in turn 2 he was able to overtake and move up into P 2. Frijns lead the whole race and didn´t do any mistake at all. In the end, it was Robin Frijns who won the race leading Teammate Oscar Tunjo for a perfect Kaufmann Racing 1 - 2 in Race 1 at Budapest. Great success for the whole Josef Kaufmann Racing Team.

Qualifying 2: In the Qualifying for the race on Sunday it was Robin Frijns first out on track in Group B. Like the day before Frijns was fastest in his group - P 1. Oscar Tunjo and Mathieu Jaminet in Group A were able to qualify on P 4 - Tunjo and P 9 - Jaminet. For the race the grid positions had been the following: Frijns P 2, Tunjo P 7, Jaminet P 17.

Race 2: The Race at Sunday afternoon saw not much overtaking action at all. Mathieu Jaminet had to do a pit stop after having bend his front wing. He finished the race finally only on P 27. Oscar Tunjo drove a clean race without any mistakes but also wasn´t able to overtake anybody. Tunjo finished on P 7. Robin Frijns had a good start on was putting pressure on the leader. But as there was no way to make any overtaking move Frijns kept his second position and finished the race on P 2 to take another podium finish for this year.
