In the first free practice Robin Frijns was 2nd fastest. Oscar
Tunjo, who was at Hockenheim for the first ever time, was
impressively 5th fastest. During the second free practice the
Kaufmann Drivers stayed on used tyres and only did the 12th - Frijns
and 19th - Tunjo fastest time.
In the first Qualifying Robin Frijns took P3, teammate Oscar Tunjo
P8. In the second Qualifying Frijns was again on P3 and Tunjo moved
up to a fantastic P4.
Robin Frijns had a good start and stayed on P3. Oscar Tunjo dropped
back one position during the start. A few laps later the young
Columbian unfortunately had to retire due to some innocent contact
with another driver. Frijns was able to follow the leaders and with
fastest race laps putting some pressure. Finally he was able to take
over P2 and attack the leader. In the end he didn´t found a way to
take over the lead and finished on a good P2.
Frijns again had a good start and took over P2. Unfortunately Frijns
engine cover came lose and he had some big aerodynamical
disadvantages on the long straights. Nevertheless he was able to
attack the leader and took over the lead for a short time in the
hairpin before dropping back to P2 again, where he finished the
race. Oscar Tunjo also had a good start and move up to P3 in the
hairpin. In the rest of the race the young Columbian unfortunately
dropped back to P5 and finished the race on that position.
Race 3: Due
to reverse grid starting oder, Frijns started from P5 and Tunjo
because of the accident in Race 1 started from P21. Tunjo had an
amazing opening lap moving up to P13. Unfortunately the young
Columbian had to dodge another driver and went into the gravel and
dropped back to the last and 27th position. With a remarkable race
performance he moved up to P10 in the end. Frijns had a super start
and moved up to P2 after turn 2. Unfortunately in the hairpin Frijns
was pushed off the track and dropped back to P6 again. With fastest
race laps he fought his way back up to P3 in the end.
