Free Practice:
In the first free practice the field was already split in two groups
because of the high number of participiants. Alex Riberas was in
Group 1. On a damp track, after a few laps he went out on slick
tyres. In the end he was P 7. Vandoorne and Schothorst drove in
Group 2. In the end Schothorst was P 6 and Vandoorne P 3 in the
Group.
In free practice
two it was Alex Riberas on P 3 in Group 1. Schothorst was P 9 in
Group 2 and Vandoorne was on P 2.
Qualifying 1:
Due to the high number of cars in Formula Renault Eurocup the
Qualifying was split into two groups. Alex Riberas and Pieter
Schothorst were in Group A. Riberas and Schothorst, both drove a
good Qualifying. Schothorst finished on P 6 and Riberas on P 3 in
the Group.
Vandoorne was in
Group B. The young Belgian drove a superb Qualifying. By 0,5 seconds
faster than anybody else, he took his 5th consecutive Pole Position
in EUROCUP this year. Riberas started on P 6 and Schothorst P 12.
Race 1:
Vandoorne kept the lead into Turn 1 and was leading the field.
Riberas moved up to P 5 and Schothorst to P 9. In an eventless race,
Vandoorne pulled away in the front. Schothorst drove a good race and
finished on P 9. Riberas was putting pressure on the drivers
infront, but didn´t found a way past the others. P 5 was a good
result finally. Vandoorne in front was opening the gap lap by lap.
In the end he won with nearyl 5 seconds lead and took season victory
number 3 for this year.
Qualifying 2:
Vandoorne first on track in Group B, missed to put down his perfect
lap and qualifyied on P 2 in his Group.
Riberas and
Schothorst in Group A were
on track later.
Both weren´t really able as well to put down the perfect lap. In the
end Riberas was P 5, Schothorst P 13. Overall Vandoorne on P 4,
Riberas P 9 and Schothorst P 25.
Race 2:
Sunday´s race was started in the afternoon. Vandoorne kept P 4 at
the start. Riberas dropped back one position to P 10 and Schothorst
moved up to P 21. All drivers kept those positions untill the end of
the race as overtaking as usual on the Hungaroring seems impossible.
Overall good weekend for the Kaufmann Team.
