Pole and Victory for Fenestraz in Monaco – Ye and Leeds on P11

Free practice: Luis Leeds and Yifei Ye first had to get known to the streets of Monaco. Leeds finished the session on a good P20, while Ye was even better on a strong P9. Fenestraz who knew the track from last year was very much on the pace out of the pits dominating the whole session to set the overall fastest practice time – P1.

Qualifying: As all Kaufmann Drivers were again in one Group, they headed out in Group B. Leeds improved his speed from the day before and finished on P7. Ye, who originally was on P5 in the Group, had a penalty for “not slowing down under yellow” and dropped to P6. Fenestraz as the day before was in a dominant form and set the overall fastest lap in Qualifying – P1.

Grid for Race 1: Fenestraz P2 – Ye P12 – Leeds – P14.

Grid for Race 2: Fenestraz on Pole Position – Ye P11 – Leeds P13.

Race 1: Leeds dropped one position in the opening laps and after that drove a good race to keep P14 till the end. Yifei Ye was able to gain one position but unlucky stayed outside Top Ten to finish on P 11. Fenestraz had a good start and was putting pressure on the leader. As there was no way to overtake here in the tight streets of Monaco, he stayed on his place and took another podium finish on P2.

Race 2: Ye spun in turn 1 of the opening lap and dropped back to the end of the field. He finished on P19. Leeds had a good opening lap and took advantage of a few incidents and was running on P11 to the end. Sacha Fenestraz had a good start and defended his lead into turn one. After that he pulled away from the field and was leading with a gap of around three seconds. A few minutes to the end Safety Car was deployed and the race finished under Safety Car conditions. Fenestraz took a well deserved victory after a strong race without any mistake. A very strong performance from the young Frenchman.
