Saturday
morning it was again Fenestraz who set the fastest time in his
Group A. This time he was fast enough to take overall Pole
Position as well. Ye on a strong P3 and Leeds improved on P10.
Grid for Race 1: Fenestraz on Pole Position – Ye P5 – Leeds
P19.
Race 1:
Leeds drove a good race and was able to improve himself on P18.
Ye as well drove a very good race. The young Chinese was able to
keep up the speed at the front and was fighting for the podium
spot. In the end he finished on P3 but due to a penalty for a
driver infront he was promoted to P2 in the final classification.
In the lead, Fenestraz took advantage of his Pole Position and
pulled away a bit from the field. After a last minute Safety
Car, Fenestraz kept control at the Re-Start. Entering into the
second part of the chicane on the back straight, the driver in
second place tried an impossible overtaking manoveur on
Fenestraz, touched his rear wheel and Fenestraz´s car jumped
into the air and flipped over. The car was laying upside down
and Fenestraz was still inside. Thanks to the Rescue Team
Fenestraz could walk away unhurt after this big accident.
Race 2:
On Sunday morning Leeds again was able to improve his position
to finish again P 18. Ye, who started from P10 showed once more
a good race pace to finish 8. Fenestraz, who started with a
brand new overnight rebuild car, stayed on second place for the
first lap. Afer that he tried to put the leader under pressure,
but couldn´t find a way past and finished on a fantastic P 2
after that horrible incident the day before. Finally Fenestraz
was promoted to be the winner of the race, as there was a
technical non-conformity found on the winners car. |
